Lafayette County, Missouri 2026 Budget Message: State of the County

To the Citizens of Lafayette County: As Presiding Commissioner, I would like to thank my fellow Commissioners, Monica Ritter (Northern District) and Michael Brown (Southern District) for their service to Lafayette County. We welcomed Michael Brown to the Commission in November 2025 when he replaced Brad MacLaughlin as Southern District Commissioner. Brad resigned on October 8, 2025. Michael Brown subsequently received Governor Mike Kehoe’s appointment to fill that vacancy. He was sworn in on November 26, 2025.

Meeting Change for Lafayette Co Democrats

Due to our customary meeting date coinciding with Super Bowl Sunday, the Lafayette County Democrats will convene on Sunday, February 15th at 4:30 PM at the Fairground Community Building, located at 801 West 29th Street, Higginsville, Missouri 64037. Individuals who are interested in learning more about education matters in our state are welcome to attend.

Missouri S&T announces Dean’s List

ROLLA, Mo. (January 29, 2026) - Missouri University of Science and Technology announces the names of students who made the dean's list for the Fall 2025 semester. The dean's list can also be found online at studenthonors. mst.edu. To be included on the dean's list, students must carry a minimum of 12 hours and have a grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or above out of a possible 4.0.

Huskers Take Fourth Place at Hamilton Tournament

It was time for the Hamilton Tournament last week where the Huskers have seen a great deal of success the past five years since entering, having won the championship three times. This year the team entered as the three seed. Night one saw the Blue and Gold take on the purple clad South Harrison Bulldogs. Zayden Fisher got the first bucket, then Parson Stoner scored backdoor o the o ense, Lucas Burns hit, and Fisher hit a three to close the first quarter, Huskers down 15-9.
