An odd day fraught with, well…see for yourself
Besides the title being as long as a run-on sentence, it’s appropriate in describing the day I had. It should have been a non-descript day, but with me, those days are a rarity.

The Oak Grove High School that I went to was located in a two and a half story building. The grade school occupied the four rooms on the first floor. The high school occupied three rooms on the second floor with a wood working shop, music room, classroom and rest rooms in the basement. There were 23 in my graduating class.

When I was in school the guys thought for some reason the girls in the adjoining towns were better than our hometown Oak Grove girls. Since I was having a hard time getting an Oak Grove girl to go out with me I somehow managed to get a date with one of the most beautiful girls in Blue Springs High School.
Letter to the Editor
Missouri lawmakers missed a critical opportunity to support our aging population with the newly passed state budget. By slashing funding for Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), the state has reduced support for older Missourians — the very generation that built our communities, schools, farms, and economy.

Capitol Report
The Members of the Missouri Legislature were asked to vote on a House Joint Resolution (HJR) 173 & 174 that could eliminate state income tax and replace the current revenue source with a new sales and use tax.
Jack Remembers
Back when I was a kid, we had two barbershops in Oak Grove. One was located in an old wood frame building between the bank and the Oddfellows building. The bank bought the building, tore it down and expanded to the south.

To everything there is a season
Ecclesiastes 3:1, from the New King James Version of the Bible, says, “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.”

One of the biggest mistakes Kansas City has made was not keeping the FFA convention here with the American Royal. The FFA groups from Missouri now send their delegations to Louisville, Kentucky. Kansas City had the group forever. When I was in high school, a carload of us guys went to the American Royal every year.
