Kempfe family vacations to Branson to celebrate 54th anniversary

Douglas and Mary Kempfe of Alma, Julie Ravasini of Lee’s Summit and Jamie Kempfe of Gardner, Kan., traveled to Branson on Sunday afternoon, June 21. On Monday, they enjoyed visiting the Top of the Rock and enjoyed visiting the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum, Chapel of the Ozarks and Jack’s Cabin at Top of the Rock. In the evening, they enjoyed visiting with Gary and Glenda Riekhof, who live close by in Blue Eye. Tuesday, the group enjoyed visiting Dogwood Canyon Nature Park and visiting with Doug and Lori Tuepker, who live in Branson. In the evening, they attended the Haygoods Musical Show. Wednesday, the group saw the live play, “David.” Doug and Mary enjoyed the trip very much. Two of their daughters planned the trip to help their parents celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary, which was on June 25, the day after they returned home.

Lafayette County Cares Coalition Hosts 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect

The Lafayette County Cares Coalition proudly hosted the 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect on Saturday, May 30th, bringing together community members, local organizations, advocates, and supporters in a united effort to raise awareness about mental health and substance use conditions and suicide prevention, while promoting hope, connection, and wellness.

LCRSP Members Attend MRTA Region 5 Meeting

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Lafayette County Retired School Personnel officers John Morgan (President), Carol Struchtemeyer (VP), Gail Lilleman (Treasurer), and Amy Chambers Thieman (Secretary), along with Region 5’s Distinguished Retiree Award Winner, Evelyn Trigg, attended MRTA’s Region 5 Annual Meeting. It was hosted by Cooper County Area Retired Teachers and School Personnel at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Boonville, MO. Breakfast treats and lunch were served. Door prizes and gift bags were presented. $500 was raised in a raffle enough to fund one MRTA-F classroom grant. The meeting began at 10:00 A.M. and was adjourned about 2:00 P.M.

Juneteenth agenda announced

The Lafayette County Juneteenth Foundation Board proudly announces its agenda for the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration. The 2026 celebration will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 thru Sunday, June 28, 2026. Activities will be held in Higginsville and Lexington. The theme is “Freedom: Yesterday’s Legacy, Today’s Promise, and Tomorrow’s Hope!” Alcohol is not permitted. Everyone is welcome. Children under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
