Lady Husker Hoops End Regular Season with Two Losses

The Lady Huskers were north of the Big Muddy in Ray County last week to take on the Lady Spartans in Richmond. The spmewhat up and down Blue and Gold squad had defeated RHS 46-32 in early February in their last meeting.
Ada Stoner hit a three for 3-2, and Addison Frerking and Chloe Tyler scored, with the home team leading 8-6 after one.
Several missed opportunities at the charity stripe occurred in Q2, and RHS was leading 20-16 at the half. On the night the Huskers would go 13 for 31 to Richmond’s 21-33.
The second half saw a 3rd quarter end at 40-32 RHS up, and in the fourth quarter, Stoner hit a mid ranger for 41-36, and Addison Frerking hit a three near 4 to go, for 47-42, Stoner hit from deep at 2:10, but Richmond clung to the lead. Free throws by the Spartans pushed the count to 5946 late and the Lady Huskers would eventually fall 62-49. Scoring: Stoner 14, Joyner 3, Tyler 20, Frerking 12. Genevieve Didier led RHS with 22 Later in the week it was Husker Senior night against the Holden Lady Eagles who defeated the Huskers earlier in the season in Johnson County, with only one senior recognized for the girls; Manager Alexandria Erdman.
Claudia Kouril made it 5-2 with a layup early, then Stoner rained in a three and Tyler hit, but Q1 ended 167 Holden up.
Tyler opened Q2 with a bucket off an assist by Stoner, then got a loose ball and scored. Holden hit a three at 4:21, and extended their lead to 22-13 at the half.
Five points in a row by Tyler opened the third frame, and later the frame ended 26-20 Eagles.
Stoner hit two threes early 4th Q, and soon the score was a five point spread now with the ‘Ville leading with 2:26 to go after a Kouril score.
Under a minute to play Tyler sank two freebies, then Holden scored on a drive for 38-35. The Eagles hit a three for 39-38.
Holden’s sequence at the end spelled doom for the Blue and Gold as they drew to within 41-40 with an Adalyn Campbell bucket, survived two misses from the Huskers at the line, and then Campbell dropped in two free throws to snag the win 41-40, as the Huskers last second shot missed the mark. Scoring: Tyler 16, Stoner 11, Kouril 6, Frerking 4, Joyner 4. Campbell finished with a 30 points for the Eagles.
