I am happy to report that there were no negative audit findings during this fiscal year’s audit. All final expenditures were within the budgeted amounts for all funds and by doing so, ensured compliance.

I appreciate the Mayor, Board of Aldermen, Department Heads and staff that work along with me in assuring that the City of Higginsville remains in a positive financial position and is prepared for the future.

As stewards of the tax funds, it is important for all of us to do our due diligence to ensure the funds are being spent appropriately and in the best interest of the citizens of Higginsville.

If after you review your copy of the audit, please return it to Sheri; we use extra copies for mailings to meet compliance needs.

I am happy to report that MODOT has completed their review of the Highway 13 Speed Limit from the Hwy 13/1-70 Junction to the Higginsville City Limits and has agreed to adjust the speed limit from 60 mph to 50 mph beginning in the area approximately 1200 feet South of MM. The Ordinance for this change will be presented at the February 17, 2026, meeting for approval. Due to the ongoing safety issues in this area, we welcome this change and thank MODOT for their consideration and approval of this change.
