The Lexington News office on Franklin Ave. has officially closed its doors.

The Lexington News, Higginsville Advance and Santa Fe Times — recently purchased by the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce — are now located in one convenient location at 1016 Main Street (License Office building).

The offices are located in the back hallway, which can be accessed through the main lobby or from the city parking lot behind the buildings.

Office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; phone 660-584-3611 or 660-2592266. The Lexington News had been located at the Franklin Avenue location since July of 2007, moving from a building on Main Street. Lexington News Editor Joe Parmon recalls joining the paper at the tail end of that move. ‘On my first day on the job — which was a very hot July day — I helped former Publisher Mike Stearns and former Sports Editor Martin Barrett move a bunch of stuff from the Main Street location to the Franklin Avenue office,” said Parmon.

Fast forward 19 years, and Parmon remains the paper’s Editor. “It’s a job I love. I also love the Lexington community, and I truly believe that our new location, along with several other changes that we will be rolling out soon, will be a positive thing for our subscribers,” added Parmon.
