Minutewomen comeback falls short

The Lexington Minutewomen Girls Basketball Team made a nice comeback, after falling behind early, but they could not quite get over the hump, as they fell 51 to 42 to the Higginsville Lady Huskers in an MRVC East Conference game, a week ago Tuesday in Higginsville.

The Lady Huskers had a big first quarter, as Ada Stoner scored 13 points, including 3 triples, while Zoey Earnest scored all 8 of Lexington’s points, and Higginsville led 20 8, at the end of the period.

Earnest and LaNiya Davis each tallied 6 points during the quarter, and they cut the Husker lead to 36-28, by the time the period ended.

The Minutewomen had their opportunities in the final quarter, as Earnest had 6 points, Gonzalez 4 and Davis and Bollmeyer 2 each, and they cut their deficit to 5 points, and had the ball on two different occasions , but they could not convert offensively either time, and they came up on the short end of the 51 to 42 score.

Earnest led Lexington in scoring with 20 points, while Stoner led Higginsville with 17, with Chloe Tyler also scoring in double figures with 16 points.
