Boys wrestlers run into tough luck in district meet
Many of the wrestlers on the Lexington Minutemen Boys team performed very well in the first few rounds of the District Tournament this past weekend in Higginsville, but things took a turn for the worst, as the team had some tough luck on the final day, and failed to qualify any wrestlers for this week’s State Tournament.
Lexington was on the verge of qualifying at least 5 wrestlers for State, as Braxton Emerson, Jesse Dunkle, and Mason Bergsieker all advanced to the semi finals, while Ayden Harned and Noah Ellison each won two matches, and all five were only one win away from going to the Big Dance. Evan Fox and Johnnie Staus each also earned a win in the District Meet.
Not to make excuses, but Lexington was arguably in one of, if not the toughest District in the State, as it is probably a safe bet that many of the teams and wrestlers from this District, will do very well in the State Meet.
