Damario Moss wraps up excellent freshman season

Former Lexington Minutemen basketball star, Damario Moss wrapped up his first college basketball season last week, and the Freshman compiled some impressive statistics, as a first year player with the Missouri Valley Vikings.
Moss was one of only 2 players, who started all 29 games for Missouri Valley this season, and he averaged playing 33 minutes each game, which was the second highest average number of minutes for all players.
Damario averaged right at 12 points per game and he pulled down an average of 6 rebounds per game, which was second on the team. The Freshman had a field goal percentage of 43% for the season, and he was 36% from three point range. which was second best on the team.
He also converted 75% of his free throw attempts. which was third best for the season. Moss was also a strong defensive player, and although not official, he quire possibly led his team in taking charging fouls on defense, as he often stepped right in the path, and took a punishing blow from a much bigger offensive player.
Moss had two 20 point games during the season, as he tallied 23 points in a game against Baker on November 12, and 21 points on February 7 against Peru St. He also scored 18 points against William Woods on November 19, and 18 against Mid America Nazarene on January 1. Missouri Valley was victorious in all four of those games.
Missouri Valley, as a team, had a good season, as they had an overall record of 18-11. They were 12-8, and finished tied for fifth place in the 15 team Heart of America Conference race. They also qualified for the Heart of America Post Season Tournament, but they dropped their first game of the tourney.
Damario Moss, who graduated last year from Lexington High School, scored 2213 points during his high school basketball career, and he is the all time leading scorer in the history of the school, and the only player to eclipse the 2000 career point mark at Lexington. Moss was also selected during both his Junior and Senior years to the Missouri Class 3 All State Basketball Team.
