Something’s Coming — Joyful and Positive!
Can you remember the feelings you get when the Christmas lights come on downtown for the season? Do you remember what it feels like to drive through town and be awash in the warmth of the seasonal color, the vibrancy, the nostalgia, the pure joy?
Get ready, Lexington, because the Community Betterment group is about to bring all those magical feelings back to Lexington, back to our magical, history-filled downtown.
Prepare for Project Christmas Lights 2026, an initiative spearheaded by representatives from town-wide organizations who are members of Community Betterment, which meets every first Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at The LEX.
The goal of this group is to raise funds to purchase new Christmas decorations for the 53 black decorative light poles around downtown Lexington’s Main and Franklin Streets. And yes, the goal is to have each pole lit and glowing brightly this season, an improvement from the faded and shabby wreaths that were up this year and some poles whose outlets either didn’t work or weren’t present at all, resulting in darkness.
Soon you will be hearing about a major entertainment fundraiser that will bring joy and community to all who participate — hint: save the date June 6—as well as ways that your club, your business, or your family can participate.
Lexington deserves nice things, and Project Christmas Lights 2026 is preparing to provide that glow of beauty, warmth, and pride for all Lexingtonians this upcoming season. Keep your eyes peeled and get ready! This is going to be big, fun, positive, and all for YOU!
