Vets Memorial Brick Program update

The Friends of the Lafayette County Veterans Memorial remind community members that the application deadline for the Veterans Memorial Brick Program is quickly approaching. All applications must be submitted by April 9 to be considered for this meaningful opportunity to honor Lafayette County veterans. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure their submissions are received before the deadline.

A total of 200 memorial brick spaces are available. Each brick is priced at $300. To be eligible, the veteran must be a native or permanent resident of Lafayette County, Missouri, and must have received an honorable discharge. Applicants must submit a DD-214 form or equivalent documentation to verify military service and discharge status.

Payment is not required at the time of application. Payment will be requested only after eligibility has been confirmed and the application approved. If more than 200 eligible applications are received, a computer-generated lottery will be used to determine which veterans are honored during this phase of the project. Applications not selected will be retained for future consideration as the memorial expands.

Payment deadline (for selected applicants only) is May 9. These deadlines may be extended if fewer than 200 applications are received.

Applications may be submitted online at https://flcvm.org Paper applications, along with required discharge documentation, may be mailed to: Jennifer Jellum, c/o Lafayette County Courthouse, 1001 Main Street, Lexington, MO 64067 Information from mailed applications will be entered into the database and included in the computer-generated lottery.

Paper applications are available for pickup at City Hall locations in Alma, Bates City, Concordia, Higginsville, Lexington, Odessa, Waverly, and Wellington.
