Gertrude Ann Rolf

Gertrude Ann Rolf, age 90, a child of God through faith in Christ, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend.

Born Jan. 26, 1936, in rural Alma, Gertrude was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Wagner) Nienhueser. She was baptized at their home in rural Alma and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma.

Gertrude was united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1955, to Oswald “Ozzie” Rolf, who preceded her in death on June 10, 2003. Together, they raised their three daughters in Higginsville.

Gertrude was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served as church and school secretary for 32 years. She was a member of Priscilla and Ruth Circles at Immanuel and volunteered with Lutheran Braille Workers.

Gertrude took an active role in the lives of her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and bowling, and always had a good book to read. She spent many hours crocheting baby blankets and caps that were donated to hospitals for newborns. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Gertrude is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and husband Doug Westphal, Janice and husband Doug Johnson, Joan and husband Paul Biesemeyer; grandchildren Matthew Johnson (David Poeschl), Chris Johnson (Jenni), Stephanie Smith (Anthony), Austin Westphal, Jasmine Westphal; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Bonnie Nienhueser and Dorothy Rolf; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a stillborn son, Alan Wayne Rolf; all six of her siblings: Laura Lovercamp, Wilbert Nienhueser, Leonard Nienhueser, Dorothy Schlesselman, Velma Hinck and Roland Nienhueser; and two of her dearest friends, Althea Dieckhoff and Betty Harms.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 5-7 p.m. at Kaiser Wiegers Funeral Home in Higginsville. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville, with Pastor Marcus Jauss officiating.

Burial followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Alma. Serving as pallbearers were Gertrude’s nephews: David Schlesselman, Don Schlesselman, Paul Hinck, Dwayne Nienhueser, Derron Rolf and Devon Rolf. Nephews Everett Lovercamp and Richard Nienhueser are honorary pallbearers.
