Margie Ann Samuels

Margie Ann Samuels passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026 at Life Care Center in Carrollton.

Margie was born April 18, 1947, in Waverly, to Erving and Ruth (Fryer) Kalthoff. Margie grew up on the family farm in rural Bogard and attended Bogard School from kindergarten through graduation in 1966.

After graduation, Margie married and settled with her family in Chillicothe in 1967.

In 1990, Margie introduced herself to James (Jim) Samuels when she asked him to dance. On May 10, 1993, Margie and Jim were married in Las Vegas, Nev.

Margie and Jim made their home near Carrollton where they enjoyed a loving and quiet life.

Margie is survived by her husband Jim; son, Joe Cox (Dave Penn), of Topeka, Kan.; daughter Jennifer Grossman of Parkville; step-daughter Candace Wood of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchilden; one greatgrandson; sister Carolyn Nashan of Columbia; a niece and two greatnieces.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, and her parents-in-law, Clarence Earl and Melba Samuels.

In keeping with Margie’s wishes, there was a cremation and a private celebration of life will be held with family at a later time. Those wishing to honor Margie’s life may do so through memorial contributions to the Carrollton, Missouri Public Library care of Bittiker Funeral of Carrollton.
