1. State the elected office you are seeking.

I am seeking reelection for City Council, as I currently hold a seat in Ward One, and since moving, I am running for Ward 2.

2. Give us a background of your family, your education and your history in the area.

My family has lived in Lexington since 1966, starting with my grandparents. I grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 2004. After, I joined the Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman with the 1st Marine Division, with whom I deployed to Iraq with in 2007. After active duty, I continued to serve in the reserves but have since retired in 2021. I have served on Lexington Fire and Rescue since 2004 and I work as a full time firefighter as well for the city of Independence. I received my associates degree from Wentworth Military Academy, and my wife Erika and our two girls Kennedy and Lilly live in town.

3. State your reasons for running for this office.

I am running for City Council because it is important to me to play an active role in the community, in general, but I have enjoyed getting to be a part of helping make decisions, keeping the best interest of the people first. I am optimistic for the positive, future- focused work the City and Council have done so far, and sincerely hope to continue that progress. I have lived in this community my entire life apart from my service overseas, so I want to see us continue moving forward.

4. State your qualifications for this office.

I am currently serving on City Council, so I believe I have current, relevant insight on how the city currently operates, and what we need for the future. With my time on the council I have learned valuable knowledge on how cities work, and what they need to be successful.

5. What are your priorities and goals for the city of Lexington?

My current priority for the city is to keep us moving forward. When I was on the council the last time, I was part of the city council who help set up the purchase of the water plant. Our water plant was in dire need of updating. This is why we are also updating the sewer plant to meet the latest regulations of the DNR. In saying all that we are updating our city facilities to help give us the potential for growth in the community. I would like to see some new housing added as well something to help bring more jobs to our community. By bringing more jobs or business, this will better fund the city. This would allow for us to work towards retention of great employees, be appealing for businesses, and be an ideal place to raise families. We as a community have a lot of room and potential for growth, but we cannot let ourselves become stagnant, and must keep progress as a leading priority. My hope is that if elected again, I can help be a part of keeping this community moving forward.
