Kenneth Marshall Cox

Ken Marshall Cox, 85 of Higginsville, formerly of Dover, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Lafeyette Regional Hospital.

Ken was born on July 9, 1940, in Leeton, Mo., to Roy and Mary (Bratten) Cox. In 1958, he graduated from Lexington High School.

Ken first worked for Lake City, then later worked as an oiler and operator for Texas Utilities. Ken honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Army.

On Christmas Eve, Ken was united in marriage to Virginia Frances (Brockert) Cox. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 2007.

Ken was a proud member of the VFW 4052 and found solace in his faith as a devoted attendee of Dover Christian Church.

Ken is survived by one child, Jeff Cox; one grandchild, Dakota Cox Darnell; two greatgrandchildren; one sister, Sue Cretzmeyer; two brothers: Steve (JoAnn) Cox and Tony (Jeanette) Cox; long time friend Carrie Smith; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by both his parents, and wife, Virginia Cox; a niece, Kelly Cox; two brothers-in law.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Dover Christian Church. A funeral service followed at the church. Interment with military honors was held at Dover Cemetery.
