Supporting agriculture

We have passed the midway point of session, and the work has really taken off. These are some of the busiest weeks of session as we try to work on as many bills as we can before the budget becomes the primary focus in the Senate. I am happy to report that many bills from both the House and Senate are progressing at a decent clip, and soon, we will start working on the budget bills.
With that in mind, I want to discuss my Senate Bill 913, which has made additional progress this week. As a reminder, this is a bill to help support the agricultural industry in Missouri. It extends several tax credits used by plants and other industry producers vital to our economy. It also helps strengthen our railroad infrastructure to help streamline and improve the transportation of goods in our state. I am proud to share that the bill passed through the Senate this week without receiving any burdensome amendments that would complicate its passage. I am excited to see it heading to the House of Representatives where I hope it will pass quickly through committee and chamber and make its way to the governor’s desk.
In addition, the Senate perfected my Senate Bill 1553 which attempts to shift many oversees industries used in the creation of critical military and medical products back to our nation. Specifically, I hope to move them back here to Missouri by providing incentives for critical pharmaceutical ingredients, minerals and metals. I hope that by providing these incentives it will draw these industries back to Missouri and strengthen our economy, national security and health.
I am happy with all the visitors I have received in the Capitol and am always interested in meeting with my constituents, so please feel free to drop by.
