SF FFA member to attend HYMAX Academy

Compiled by Klarissa Olvera
In late March, the Missouri FFA Association announced that Santa Fe FFA member Abbie Gieselman was among 100 sophomore FFA members who were selected to attend the 2026 HYMAX Academy.
The HYMAX (Helping Youth Maximize their Agricultural eXperience) Academy is a youth leadership conference that provides hands-on experience to prepare youth to communicate, lead and advocate for the agricultural industry. FFA members are able to learn from other FFA members, strengthen their knowledge base in agricultural issues and sharpen written and verbal communication skills. Attendees will build on knowledge gained in class and leadership experiences gained as a FFA Greenhand, as well as learn skills to work together in a small group.
Each Missouri FFA Chapter is permitted to submit four applications for the academy, two male and two female. The application consists of five narrative response essays from the FFA member, counselor’s verification of academic achievement, and two letters of recommendation, one of which is to be completed by their FFA Advisor. This year, over 175 members applied.
The 2026 HYMAX Academy will take place June 12-14 at Camp Rising Sun at the Lake of the Ozarks.
