Inside John Knox Village East: As we head into the beginning of spring, there’s a spring in our step as we engage in our plethora of activities. On Sunday March 22nd, we enjoyed church services followed by a lunch of Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Roasted Carrots, Beef Vegetable Soup, Salad Bar and Dessert. In the evening, we enjoyed our bimonthly Vesper’s Service. On Monday March 23rd, we played Bridge and Card Bingo. We also held our Men’s Coffee in the Gathering Room. On Tuesday March 24th, we enjoyed a program on Tai Chi and other Missouri Extension programs presented by Sue Robison and Chelsea Corkins with the Extension Office. We also played dominoes and our Card Club met in the Gathering Room. On Wednesday March 25th, we held Exercise Class, Hymn Sing and Bible Study. On Thursday March 26th, we hosted a Farmer’s Market featuring goodies provided by 121 Farmhouse. We also played Dirty Board and Cards. In the Care Center, our Move ‘n’ Groove Club met and we enjoyed Root Beer Floats in the Gathering Room. On Friday the 27th, our Movie Club met and we watched Jerry and Marge Go Large starring Bryan Cranston and Annette Benning. No one had a birthday this week. Tennis Team Enjoying Early Success
The Husker Tennis squad is off and rolling again this spring as one of the perennial contenders in the athletic program year in and year out.

Preservation of Rural Schools & Communities: Town Hall Meeting
On Tuesday, March 24th, aprox. 150 people filled the Greg Prather Gymnasium at Santa Fe High School to learn more about the challenges facing Santa Fe, Lexington, Higginsville and other rural school districts across Missouri.

The City of Sweet Springs is the latest community to be awarded a 2026 Missouri Blue Shield designation by the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

Next week, on April 7th, the Lafayette County voters will be heading to the polls. There will be three candidates running for the Lafayette County C-1 School Board. Please meet Mr. Matt Parks, our last candidate to be introduced.
County Commissioners discuss use tax ballot issue
A question regarding reallocation of the county’s use tax that will appear on the April 7 ballot was a topic of discussion at last week’s Lexington City Council meeting, a public hearing last Wednesday at the county courthouse, and a meeting of county mayors and County Commissioners last Thursday night at City Hall.
