Santa Fe girls eliminated in Districts

It was time for district competition last week, and the Santa Fe Lady Chiefs traveled south down Highway 23 to take on the extremely familiar host school Concordia, in Class 2 District 14 play last Wednesday night. Santa Fe had won three straight over the Lady Orioles, but everyone knew this would be a tough ball game.
The first quarter would wind up 7-6 in favor of the Lady O’s. Buckets by Brooke Dierking and Mia Lark highlighted the period for the Lady Chiefs.
In Q2, Tynlee Koch got hot hitting a trey, and adding another bucket. The Santa Fe defense was also working hard, and clamped down with authority, allowing just one thin point from CHS in the period. At the half it was 11-8, Santa Fe up.
Coach Hon’s team then posted 14 points in the third for their best offensive output of the evening, and limited the Black and Orange to 10 points. Buckets by A. Mueller, Dierking, and Lark aided the cause. Dierking and Lark also had success at the charity stripe in this frame.
The stage was set for a date to move on and advance as Q4 opened. Lark would do much of the damage in the period with 5 points, yet Concordia would explode for 18 points to take the win 36 to 32.
The loss ends the Santa Fe season at 17 and 10 overall, and sends off the seniors off, who have had a very good run at SFHS in their career.
Scoring: Michael 1, A. Mueller 2, Koch 5, Dierking 8, Lark 14, Fitzwater 2. CHS scoring was led by Ava Mueller with 16 points.
