CHANGE TO NEWS DEADLINES
During the month of March, as the newspaper transitions to new procedures, the deadline for submission of items will change to Mondays at noon (rather than the usual deadline of Tuesday at noon). Contact information for the newspaper is also changing. The new email address is news@santafetimesnews.com, new phone is 660-243-0330 and new mailing address is PO Box 128, Lexington, MO 64067.
Santa Fe R-X to hold town hall meeting The Santa Fe R-X School District will hold a town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 24 at Santa Fe High School from 5:30-7 p.m. The topic of the meeting will be the future of rural and public education featuring guest speaker Duane Martin, an attorney with EdCounsel. Superintendents and local legislators have also been invited to serve on a discussion panel. All are invited to attend!
Free smoke detectors
Daylight Savings Time is a commonly suggested time to check the batteries in your smoke detectors. In line with this testing recommendation, the Waverly Fire Protection District would like to offer free smoke detectors to local residents in need. Please fill out the form located on the Waverly Fire Protection District Facebook page, or contact a local volunteer.
Coffee with the Commission
The Lafayette County Commission are continuing their Coffee with the Commission outreach program by visiting towns across the county. Area residents are invited to the upcoming meeting planned for Saturday, April 4, at Ten Twelve Main in Lexington (1012 Main St., Lexington). All meetings are held from 9-10:30 a.m. Meet your commissioners, ask questions, and learn more about Lafayette County’s goals for 2026 and beyond.
Good Friends & Neighbors
On the first Monday of every month, a community group in Waverly called Good Friends and Neighbors meets at the Waverly Baptist Church.
Meetings begin at 10:30 a.m. with a potluck lunch to follow. All are welcome to attend!
