Warrensburg man facing kidnapping and weapon charges in Lafayette County

Mar 3, 2026 LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo – A Warrensburg man is facing multiple charges in Lafayette County after holding three people against their will with a knife.

According to a probable cause statement, Higginsville Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2700 block of Main Street on Sunday afternoon for a disturbance in progress. They were able to detain 27-year- old Tyquian DeBurns and disarm him of a large kitchen knife. DeBurns claimed that someone was in the attic with a bomb.

DeBurns faces one count each of second-degree kidnapping, unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree assault. He is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.
