City of Waverly receives two grants to supply Emergency Trailer
The March 9 regular meeting of the Waverly City Council was called to order by Richard at 6:30 p.m.
Roll call: Morgan Bishop, Joe Frazier, Ali Hostetter, Crystal Faler, Stephen Phillips, Tammy Hamblen, Mike and Kyle with Bartlett & West, and representatives from AAA and RTS Trash Services were present.
Joe made a motion to approve the Feb. 9 regular council meeting minutes, seconded by Ali. All in favor. Motion carried.
Morgan made a motion to approve the Feb. 9 Executive Session minutes, seconded by Ali. All in favor. Motion carried.
Ali made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Morgan. All in favor. Motion carried.
Tammy reported the need for a new metal detector and locate machine. Quotes were received as follows:
• USA Bluebook – $4,894.75
• American Underground – $7,188.98
• Core & Main – $5,700.00 Morgan made a motion to purchase the equipment from Core & Main for $5,700, with the cost to be split between the water and sewer accounts. Seconded by Ali. All in favor. Motion carried.
Mike and Kyle reported that Bartlett & West will begin the engineering study soon.
The annual contract for the antenna on the water tower was presented. Joe made a motion to accept the contract, seconded by Ali. All in favor. Motion carried.
The December financial statement was approved by Morgan, seconded by Ali. All in favor. Motion carried.
An update to the General Code Ordinance was presented. Joe made a motion to approve the update, seconded by Morgan. All in favor. Motion carried.
The Compensation Policy was updated. Joe made a motion to approve the update, seconded by Morgan. All in favor. Motion carried.
AAA and RTS reported that their bids will be submitted by April 1. The bids will be opened at the April 13 Council Meeting.
Police Chief Stephen Phillips reported 37 calls for service for the month of February.
The City was awarded two grants, one from Walmart and one from MFA. Both grants will be used to supply the Emergency Trailer, which was also awarded through a grant.
Richard encouraged all council members to attend upcoming training.
