Tigers drop NCAA opener, Jayhawks fall at the buzzer

The Missouri Tigers Mens Basketball team had a short stay in the NCAA Tournament, as they dropped their first game to Miami (FL) 80 to 66 late last Friday evening in St Louis. The Tigers, who trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half, scored 9 straight to pull within 2726 at halftime, and then took a brief lead midway through the second half, before Miami went on an 11-0 run to basically put the game out of reach. Jayden Stone led Missouri with 21 points, while Mark Mitchell had 19 and Anthony Robinson 11 for Mizzou, who winds up 20-13 for the season. Malik Reneau led Miami with 24 points, while Tre Donaldson had 17 and Shelton Henderson 15.

Dylan Darling became the first player in NCAA Tournament history to score his only points of the game at the buzzer, as he hit a layup as time expired to give St Johns a 67 to 65 win over the Kansas Jayhawks in a second round game last Sunday in San Diego. The Jayhawks, whose only lead of the game, was with 18:09 to play in the first half, trailed by 14 points in the second half, before making a great comeback.

Darryn Peterson nailed two free throws for Kansas to tie the game at 65 all with 13 seconds left, before Darling hit his game winner. Peterson led all scorers with 21 points for the Jayhawks, who wind up 24-11, while Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins each had 18 to lead St Johns.
