Randall Hansen

1. State the elected office you are seeking.
My name is Randall Hansen, and I am running for 4th Ward City Council, Lexington, Missouri.
2. Give us a background of your family, your education and your history in the area.
I’ve lived in Lexington since 1967 and graduated from Lexington High School in 1981. My parents were Merlin and Helen Hanson and I’m a happily married man with grown children and grandchildren.
Shortly after graduating high school, I continued my education and received an EMT certification, putting it into practice in Lexington. I split my time working between Lexington Fire and Rescue, Lexington EMS and Lexington Memorial Hospital.
While continuing to work part time at Lexington Fire and Rescue, in 1993 I received my Cardiology Tech certification and worked for Research Hospital. In 2000 I transferred to Liberty Hospital and in 2006 was promoted to Safety Engineer. In 2016 I was offered a fulltime position with Lexington Fire and Rescue before adding Lexington Emergency Management duties to my resume the following year.
3. State your reasons for running for this office.
I’m running for City Council to promote transparency, open communication, and to ensure that the citizens of Lexington have a voice in city government.
4. State your qualifications for this office.
During the flood of 2019, I managed relief efforts and FEMA reimbursements to the city. After the flood I served on the committee to build Lexington’s new water treatment plant. Through the eight years that I served as Lexington’s Emergency Manager, I have applied for and received for the city nine 50/50 grants and six 100% grants, which among other things netted the city a 70 KW generator, a portable battery-powered light tower and an upgraded power supply for the generators for Lexington’s Emergency Storm Shelter. I retired from my Emergency Management Position in November 2025.
I am an active member of the Lexington Fair Board, helping throughout the year and helping decorate the Main Street Park gazebo.
I am a member of the Lafayette County Emergency Services Board, appointed in 2025 by the Lafayette County Commissioners.
I have valuable knowledge and experience with both the citizens of Lexington and our city’s services.
5. What are your priorities and goals for the city?
I’m not afraid to speak up, and my only interest is to assist Lexington in moving forward with positivity and healthy, consensus- built growth.
