EASTER IS FOR JESUS, SILLY RABBIT!

This Sunday we celebrate Resurrection Day, commonly referred to as ‘Easter’ Sunday. Our Easter message is simple: Celebrate Jesus and His gift. (What is His gift? Read the biblical account of Jesus’ resurrection in the Book of Matthew Chapter 28.)
Some are so busy preparing for the worldly celebration that the true meaning of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ takes a back seat. While celebrating spring and the greening of grass, looking for the ‘Easter bunny’ and dyeing eggs, hiding them, and sending children in search of them, eating candy and Peeps … these traditions are fun and there’s nothing ‘wrong’ with them … but they have nothing to do with the true meaning of Resurrection Day. If that is the only thing celebrated, the meaning is as empty as a plastic egg; as hollow as a chocolate bunny.
We should never let worldly traditions dictate the celebration of what Jesus did for us. If you don’t already, consider incorporating ‘Jesus’ into your egg hunt this year. Fill plastic eggs with toy Jesus figurines, candy blessing bracelets, chocolate Crosses, Scripture butter mints, etc. (check local markets or Amazon.com) or print out your own Bible verses and include them with candy in plastic eggs. As you gather for a meal around the family table, be sure to pray and give thanks for God’s provision and sacrifice, revealing the power of redemption and the depth of His Love.
Parents and grandparents: Our kids need to see and hear us thanking God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us. They need to learn about the death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ — it isn’t taught in the public schools … where else will they learn about The Saviour of the world if not from you?
Worship and praise the name of our Saviour … God the Son paid the price for our sins and rose again to reconcile us to the Father.
Romans 4:24-25 – “But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
So hop along, Silly Rabbit. Easter is about the Lamb … The Lamb Who died to save us.
John 1:34-37 – ‘And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. 35Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.’
May His resurrection be a source of inspiration and renewal for us all. If you have been spiritually born, you are justified as righteous and will spend eternity with The Lamb of God in heaven. Jesus is worthy!
