HUSKER BASEBALL BROPS GAMES AGAINST OBESSA ANB ST. PAUL
The Husker Baseball team got into their second week of action taking on a tough Odessa Bulldog squad on Tuesday in the home opener, and then facing the St. Paul Saints again at home on Friday night.
Facing the Bulldogs Junior Rylan Shockey was on the bump first for the Blue and Gold however the Odessa offense looked to be in mid season form and opened up a big lead early.
The Bulldogs pounded out 16 hits in the contest and sprung out to a 12-0 lead after their half of the first inning. Dalton Johnson was brought in for relief duties in the first, finishing the contest which ended in three innings after the spread was reached. Husker bats were silenced on the day except when Jared Dieckmann broke up a no hitter in the bottom of the third with a base hit off pitcher Caden Moszczynski-Rivas for the ‘Dogs.
For the ’Dogs offense, Colton Biermaier, Jackson Whitaker, and Moszczynski-Rivas all delivered triples. Three ‘Dogs also provide doubles as well. The final in this one was 15-0 in favor of OHS.
On Friday evening the Saints came marching in from St. Paul High School.
The Huskers would be upended in this contest by the count for 15-3, dropping the record to 0-4 on the young season.
Pitchers on this evening for the Huskers included Levi Kroessen who started, and Johnson coming in for relief. Additional information on this game soon when stats are available.
