Tennis Team Off to Fiue and One Start

The Husker Tennis team took on duals and a doubles tournament recently, continuing a strong season thus far. Taking on a tough Warrensburg Tigers squad of the MRVC west, at home on 3-30-26, The boys were defeated 7-2. Colby Dickmeier and Alex Dyer lost 2-8 at #1 doubles, Matteo Guillen and Rhett Bums were defeated 0-8 at #2, and Cy Fitzgerel, and Joel Cook lost 0-8 as well, at #3.
The Huskers picked up a nice win at #1 singles with Dickmeier winning a tight 9-7 match over Oliver Staab, with the only other singles win coming at #3, with Dyer winning 8-5. In JV action, the Huskers were swept 6-0.
Next up was a East conference match with Carrollton. The Huskers took the brooms out of the closet for a sweep and match win of 9-0. Dickmeier won over Junior Bowersock of CHS, 8-0, at #1 singles, and top to bottom the Huskers only allowed 8 games
total on the day to be surrendered. Atticus Kerrivan played #3 doubles with Joel Cook in this contest, winning their match 8-5.
The Huskers swept JV play as well, winning 2-0. Colton Fitzgerel and Drake Shakleford won 6-2, and Lennon Frank, and Owinn Elliott won 7-6.
Another MRVCE was held last week as well on 4-2-26 at home. It was another sweep as well, though some of it self inflicted, as the Richmond Spartans came off the bus already down 2 spots only able to bring 5 players out of the necessary 6 needed.
The closest Spartan on the day was a 5-8 effort in singles, with all but one other spot winning at love, 8-0. The Huskers improved to 5 and 1. Dickmeier won his match at #1 singles, 8-0 over Brody Burdine.
The Huskers traveled down south for some stout doubles competition at Warrensburg next. Here are the results: 2026 Warrensburg Doubles Tennis Tournament: #1 Doubles – Colby place, 5th place – lost to Moberly 6-8, #2 Doubles – Mateo Guillen & Rhett Bums – 7th place, 7th place – won over Smith Cotton 8-4, #3 Doubles – Cy Fitzgerel & Joel Cook – 5th place, 5th place – won over Webb City 9-7, #4 Doubles – Atticus Kerivan & Houston Davenport – 8th place, 7th place – lost to Smith Cotton 4-8.
