Hughes Re-Elected as Mayor
Incumbent Lexington Mayor Tom Hughes defeated challenger John Harden in Tuesday’s election, earning 69 percent of the vote.
According to unofficial results posted by the County Clerk’s Office, Hughes earned a total of 420 votes, while Harden, a City Councilman, received 188 votes.
Hughes was first elected Mayor in November 2024 to fill the remainder of former Mayor David Goodloe’s term, which expired this month
After the election results were announced, Hughes posted on social media, “I’m truly honored to have earned your trust again as your Mayor. This campaign has always been about our community, and I’m grateful for every conversation, every show of support, and every vote. I’ve had the opportunity to speak with so many of you over the past months — on your doorsteps, in your neighborhoods — and those conversations will continue to guide the work ahead…We’ve built real momentum together, and I’m committed to seeing that progress through with the same consistency, accountability, and transparency you expect.”
