April 7 Municipal Election results
On Tuesday, April 7, Lafayette County held a Municipal election with polling locations open from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The election saw a countywide turnout of 20% with 4,624 of 23,118 registered voters visiting their polling place to cast a vote. In Alma/E. Davis, voter turnout was 25.2% (159 of 631 registered voters) and in Waverly turnout was a little better at 30.4% (174 of 572 registered voters).
Of special interest at this election was the Lafayette County Property Tax credit question. Alma and Waverly voters agreed on this measure, with both towns voting NO (Alma/E. Another item of interest was the Lafayette County use tax question. Alma voters wanted this measure to pass, voting YES 86 to 72. But Waverly voters disagreed; they voted NO 100 to 72. Ultimately, the measure passed in the county with a vote of 2,338 to 2,214.
