On March 30, the 8th grade Exploratory Ag class visited Blind Pony Hatchery in Sweet Springs for their annual Paddlefish spawning event. Students learned the entire process of spawning paddlefish and assisted with gathering milk from the male and eggs from the female for fertilization. Here, from left: Students Laramie Hairell, Mackenzie Dooley, Quetzalli Hernandez-Davila, Addison Beumer, and Jonathan Hyde stir eggs so they don’t stick together, and they use a feather to ensure they are not damaged.
