BASEBALL

The Graham Padley era has officially begun for Husker Baseball. Coach Padley takes over the reins after Landon Figg’s departure who was head coach since 2020 (despite losing that spring season to Covid). Last year’s squad was senior laden with experience to boot, however the 2026 Huskers are putting in players who are in the varsity starting lineup for the first time ever. Junior Levi Kroessen is the cornerstone this year having played varsity since his freshman year, and he anchors the shortstop position and is the staff’’s ace. Kroessen is the team’s only returning starter with past experience. Senior Dalton Johnson has seen a lot of time on the mound thus far, along with junior Rylan Shockey, and Breck Green a sophomore. At the plate, Shockey has been leading the team, with other Huskers sprinkling in hits along the way. Recently, Shockey, Brice Maulis, and senior John Wilkens had two hits each against Carrollton. So far seeing considerable varsity action has been Brodie Rankin, Nick Catron, Jared Dieckman, and catcher Cael Wilkson. The Freshmen have all seen action so far on the young season which include Owen Wood, Joel Mahnken, and Parson Stoner. If the Huskers can find consistency at the plate, and if the pitching can pound the strike zone, the young Blue and Gold will have the sky as their only limitation. Padly is assisted by Odessa graduate Dakota Graham.
2025 Graduates (last year’s seniors)…Carter Wallpe, Ashtyn Sims, Braxton Ernst, Cody Gast, Spencer Trent, Ben Mason, Owen Lockard, and Jackson Button.
