BOYS TENNIS

The 2026 Husker Tennis team is off to it’s usual strong start once again. So far the team sits at 5 and 1 with a big win over the Marshall Owls in the season opener to start off on the right foot. The squad’s only loss is a match against a deep Warrensburg team who is also always a tough out. Last season coach Jim Stoner’s team was 15 and 2 overall, and once again MRVCE Champions. This year the team will be working hard to reach that goal again and possibly move more players on to state competition in Springfield. The makeup of this year’s team has returning state qualifier senior Colby Dickmeier heading up the roster at the number one spot, with senior Matteo Guillen at #2, junior Alex Dyer, and sophomore Rhett Burns play 3 and 4, and the 5 and 6 spots are held by sophomores Cy Fitzgerel, and Joel Cook, who also team at #3 doubles. Dickmeier and Dyer play #1 doubles, and Guillen and Burns play #2 doubles. The team also competed recently in the Warrensburg Doubles Tourney against larger schools such as Webb City, Moberly, and Sedalia. With solid numbers reporting for duty the teams depth is a strength, and this year’s sqaud looks to carry on the Husker Tradition of winning Tennis.
