Chiefs baseball edged by Concordia

The Red and Black attack was on the road last week on April 8 to play Concordia. This would turn out to be a very close ball game with a thin one run being the difference. Santa Fe-Norborne would take an early lead of 4-0 after two and half innings before CHS struck back making it 4-3. In the 4th Santa Fe tacked on another run, however the Orioles snagged three more of their own in their at bat. The home team plated one more run in the 5th to take a 7-5 lead into the late innings. The Chiefs would take an 8-7 lead in the final frame, with CHS getting the last at bat. The Orioles then plated three runs for the hard fought I-70 win.
On the hill for Santa Fe was Thad Hopkins who went 3 innings, with 2 walks, and 1 K, he gave up 4 hits and no earned runs. Tyson Davis threw an inning, with 2 walks, 1 strikeout, 2 hits allowed, and 3 earned runs, and Dalton Doak went 3 innings, issuing 5 walks, 3 K’s, allowing 3 earned runs, and 6 hits in the loss.
Hitting wise, the Chiefs saw Keifer Brookens go 2 for 2, and Tyler Tebbenkamp, and Hopkins both went 2 for 4 on the day, other hits came from Jensen Rehkop, Wyatt Aversman, and Tyler Blasnitz. The loss dropped the record to 2 and 6.
