Under Emergency Services Committee is the Recognition of Years of Service (Danny Logan – 20 Years). Captain Logan began his full-time employment with the City of Higginsville on May 3, 2006, as a Police Officer. In 2008, Officer Logan took on the position of K9 officer and served in that position until 2017. In 2018, he was promoted to Police Sergeant and two years later, was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police where he currently serves today. While serving as Captain of the Higginsville Police Department, he has been a key player in the numerous upgrades to the Higginsville Central Dispatch system, and we greatly appreciate his involvement in the advancement of the Dispatch. We also express our thanks to him for his handyman and carpentry skills that he has used in renovating the new Dispatch Center behind City Hall. He has done a great job, and his hard work is greatly appreciated. He has also been greatly involved in pursuing and receiving several grants for Police and Dispatch throughout the last few years.
There are no action items under Economic Development Committee.
Under Other Business is the Proclamation for Local Government Week (May 3-9, 2026). – Local Government plays an essential role in the quality of life in communities and the City of Higginsville would like to recognize those that serve. We end this week, May 8, 2026, with Law Enforcement Day at Fairground Park where all the surrounding schools attend a funfilled day to learn about Law Enforcement. The Mayor and Board are invited to attend this great event. The exciting ‘Parade of Emergency Vehicles’ happens at 8:45 A.M. to kick off the day. Thanks to all that dedicate their time to this event and those that serve their communities in local government roles every day.
Citizens LOVE their pets! So, after receiving requests to have another Pet Contest, City Hall staff decided to incorporate a contest within our Local Government Week activities. The contest was advertised through Facebook and the Higginsville Advance. As of May 1, 2026, we have received 30 entries. Citizens will be able to vote for their favorite entry through Facebook or by voting in person at City Hall. Top 3 vote-getters will receive a cash prize!
Also, under Other Business is the Mayor’s Board of Aldermen Committee Appointments. – A copy of the appointments being presented for approval is included in your packet.
It is also time for the yearly Board’s Appointment for Mayor Pro Tem.
After Monday’s regular session has adjourned, we will have the scheduled ‘work session’ with the Higginsville Park Board.
There will not be need for a closed session.
