Six Lexington distance runners qualify for state meet

Six Lexington High School distance runners finished in the top four, in at least one event in the Sectional Track meet at Higginsville last Saturday, and they have all qualified for the Class 2 State Track and Field Meet, that will be held at Jeff City High School this coming Friday and Saturday.

The six Lexington athletes have qualified in seven different events for the State meet.

In Girls individual Sectional events last Saturday, Ellie Lichte had 2 first place finishes and one second, while Addison Smith had one second, one third and one fourth, with Phoebe Engelbrecht earning one second and one third place finish. The Girls 4×800 Relay team of those three Girls and Tessa Lovell, also had a first place finish.

For the Lexington Boys, Chael Lichte had one first and one second place finish, while Conner Soendker had one first and one third place finish, in the Sectional meet.

Team scores are not really emphasized at the Sectional Meet, but the Lexington Girls finished first in terms of Team Points, while the Lexington Boys were seventh.
