SF baseball end of season recap
The Chiefs baseball squad made improvements this year, finishing with four wins overall as compared to a lone win last campaign in 2025. Highlights included a big win late in the season at Higginsville, a 15-0 win over Smithton, and a squeaker win over Northwest of Hughesville. Against Northwestern of Mendonville, with Brunswick, and Keytesville, the Chiefs lost a contest on the road by the count of 5-0 on May 11. Hits were scarce but Dalton Doak was 2-for-4, and Thad Hopkins and Keifer Brookens each added a hit a piece. On the bump, Korben Dierking, Tyler Tebbenkamp, and Tyson Davis shared duties.
On May 12, the Chiefs plated five runs in the 1st inning before a pitching change from the Higginsville Huskers took place. The Huskers clawed their way back to tie it in the 7th, but in the extra frame, Santa Fe-Norborne dented home three times to cement the victory 8-5 on the road in Husker Country.
Jensen Rehkop was 2-for-3 at the plate, as was Kiefer Brookens. The Chiefs used a platoon of pitchers in the win that included Hopkins, Brayden Livingston, Wyatt Aversman, Doak, and Davis.
The final game of the season saw the Chiefs lose in the District opener on Thursday, May 14, in a game played in Centerview at host Crest Ridge. Facing KC Barstow, the squad collected only four hits on the day with one a piece from Doak, Tebbenkamp, Aversman, and Davis. Barstow controlled the game pounding out 16 hits.
Dierking, Hopkins, and Doak saw action on the bump for Santa Fe-Norborne.
