Simple Things
Sometimes the most simple things fill us with the greatest joy and provide moments of pure pleasure that make us grateful for everything we have been given in life.
When we take a good look at those ‘simple’ things or moments, we see that many of them really aren’t that ‘simple’ after all … for instance: Watching the sun rise, hugging someone we love, taking a long walk on a beautiful day, quiet time with the Lord in prayer, the smell of freshly-cut grass, spending time in God’s Word, belly-laughing with a good friend, listening to the rain, a cozy campfire, good health, good food, clean water, good music … Can you put a price on those ‘simple’ things? Where did they come from?
Who gave us the sunrise? Who created our friends and loved ones? Who gave us legs to walk, a nose to smell with, ears to listen and eyes to see?
You get the point … God gave us everything we have … and all we need.
All things come from God and were created
Colossians 1:16 –
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible … all things were created by him, and for him:”
We were bought with a price … purchased with Christ’s own blood (Acts 20:28) as a gift. You must accept His gift by becoming spiritually born in order to spend eternity in heaven.
1Corinthians 6:20 –
“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Have you thanked Him lately? What if you woke up today with only the things you thanked God for yesterday? Did you thank Him? It’s never too late to start.
1Thessalonians 5:18 –
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Artist/Songwriter Shaun Groves expresses God’s Love in his song, “Here I Am” ‘Amazing grace, Perfect Love, washing me in a crimson flood; Flowing down from my wounded King … This changes everything!
Here I am, save me!
Here I am, change me!
Here I am, Mend me …
Here I am, send me.’
Many times the things that mean the most aren’t even ‘things’, they are moments … the most important day for Christians being the day Jesus saved their soul! Are you saved/spiritually born? Salvation is an event, a spiritual birth. God’s amazing grace, His shed blood can save your soul from the pit of hell.
Jesus changes everything! Share His gospel message — be His hands and feet — and say, “Here am I, Lord! Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8 –
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
