Higginsville Board of Aldermen Meeting

The Board of Aldermen met on May 18th, 2026. The following is the City Administrator’s board meeting update. Full copies of complete report are available at City Hall.
The first item on the agenda under Committee Reports is the Recognition of Years of service – Jeff Drury (20 years). Jeff began his journey with the City of Higginsville as a Part-time Maintenance Worker for the Electric Department which included mowing, trimming and general maintenance and cleaning. In May of 2006, Jeff moved from this part time position to a full-time Meter Reader/Maintenance Worker. In January 2008, Jeff was moved up to a Power Plant Technician I. He served in this position until January 2012, when he was promoted to Journeyman Lineman. In October 2022, Jeff was promoted to Power Plant Supervisor and continues to serve in that position today. Jeff also serves as a part-time EMT for the Higginsville EMS department and as a Fireman for the Higginsville Fire Protection District. We are proud to recognize Jeff for his 20 years of service with the City of Higginsville Electric Department and thank him for his dedication to the City of Higginsville.
Under Administration Committee is the 2019 Personal Property Tax write-offs. The Lafayette County Collector determines when certain Personal Property Taxes are uncollectible. The determination has been to write off the 2019 balance of Personal Property taxes. These taxes amount to $239.67. ($111.85/General, $92.36/Park and $35.46/Library).
There are no action items under Transportation and Waste Management Committee.
Under Emergency Services Committee is the Proclamation for National EMS week which is May 17- 23, 2026. We honor the EMS profession and the essential service it provides. The EMS department is having their 3rd Annual Lifesavers Blood Drive on Thursday, May 21st from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm. We encourage everyone who can come and donate.
There are no action items under Economic Development Committee.
Under Other Business is the Mayor’s Committee Appointments. – A copy of the appointments being presented for approval is included in your packet. The City of Higginsville is greatly appreciative of all those committed citizens who serve on the local committees and boards.
There will not be need for a closed session.
