Sculpture vandalized

News Editor A sculpture created by Lexington Tourism Adviser Mike Elder — which was part of this year’s Kansas City Parade of Hearts — was vandalized recently in east Kansas City.
Elder hopes to rebuild the sculpture — titled “Bee Part of the KC Hive” — and unveil it during the Minnie Mae Day event in Lexington on June 13.
In a social media post, Elder commented, “Yes. It (stinks) that she was destroyed, but like many stories, it’s not about the being torn down. It is about the rise. The rebuild the triumph. This Lil bee will do just that.”
Elder’s piece will still have the same name, encouraging people to work together for the common good.
