Northland Christian and Faith Christian win state titles

A week ago Tuesday, Northland Christian and Faith Christian Academy, both from Kansas City, won State Boys Baseball Championships at the State Tournament that was played at Ozark High School.

Class 1

The Northland Christian Blazers won the Class 1 State Championship, as they beat Dadeville 12-1 in a semi final game a week ago Monday, and then shut out St Elizabeth 10-0, the following day to claim the Title. St Elizabeth advanced to the Championship tilt with an 11-1 victory over North Shelby. Northland Christian had advanced to the semi finals by defeating Meadville 13-3 in a first round state game, and then topping Rock Port 2-0 in the quarterfinals. North Shelby claimed third place in Class 1 with a 12-1 win over Dadeville.

Class 2

The Faith Christian Academy Knights were the Class 2 State Champions, as they were victorious 6-0 over Miller in a semi final contest, and then won a 5-4 squeaker over Portageville to claim the Title. Portageville advanced to the Title game with a 1-0 semi final win over Eugene. Faith Christian earned a spot in the Final Four with a 9-4 win over King City in a first round contest, and then beat St Paul of Concordia 4-2 in 8 innings in a quarterfinal game. Miller finished third by beating Eugene 11-2.

Class 3

The Duchesne Pioneers and the Blair Oaks Falcons played in the State Championship game last Thursday, and the results were unavailable as of our Lexington News press deadline last Thursday morning. Duchesne advanced to the State Title game with a 10-0 win over Scott City in a semi final game, while Blair Oaks whipped Licking 10-0 in the other semi. With their shut out win over Scott City, Duchesne kept their scoreless streak alive in State play, as they shut out Macon 1-0 in a first round game, and then blanked Fatima 7-0 in a quarterfinal contest. Blair Oaks knocked off two MRVC East teams to advance to the Final Four, as they topped Holden 4-1 in a first round game, and then shut out Carrollton 12-0 in a quarterfinal contest.

Class 4

The Excelsior Springs Tigers collided with the Orchard Farm Eagles in the State Championship game that was played last Thursday. The results were unavailable as of our Lexington News Press deadline last Thursday morning. Excelsior Springs advanced to the State Title game with a 2-0 semi final win over Springfield Catholic, while Orchard Farm won an 11-10 slugfest over Westminster Christian in the other semi. Excelsior Springs qualified for the Final Four, as they beat St Joe Benton 8-4 in a State first round game, and then slipped by St Michael of the Archangel of Lees Summit 8-7 in the quarterfinals. Orchard Farm beat Clayton 9-3. In a first round State contest, and then topped Mexico 13-3 in a quarterfinal game.
