U.S. team off to good start in World Cup Tournament

The United States Men’s Soccer Team is off to a good start in the World Cup Tournament, as they have won two of their first three games.

The U. S. squad began the tournament with a 4 to 1 win over Paraguay on June 12. In their second matchup, the American Team qualified for the 32 team knockout round, by defeating a good Australia team in a 2 to 0 defensive struggle on June 19. This past Thursday evening, the U.S. suffered their first loss of the World Cup, as they fell to Turkiye 3 to 2 on the last shot of the game. However, this contest had no bearing on the overall fate of the American team because, as we stated, they had already clinched a spot in the single elimination knockout round, before this match was even played.

The United States Team will face Bosnia-Herzegovina this evening (Wednesday), with the winner advancing to the round of 16. There are a total of 16 games in this round, and play in the round began on Monday, and will conclude on Friday.

Other matchups in the round of 32 include: Germany-Paraguay; France Sweden; South Africa-Canada; Netherlands Morocco; Portugal-Croatia; Spain-Australia; Belgium-Senegal; Brazil-Japan; Ivory Coast-Norway; Mexico-Ecuador; England-Congo DR; Argentina-Cape Verde; Australia-Egypt; Switzerland-Algeria; Columbia- Ghana. (As of the printing of this article on Monday, Canada had just defeated South Africa 1 to 0, and Canada has advanced to the round of 16.)
