Fire displaces Lexington family

News Editor A July 3 fire heavily damaged a home at 1368 S. Business Highway 13 but fortunately no one was injured.

In a social media post, Lexington Fire and Rescue remarked “Thanks to the quick response, professionalism, and teamwork of everyone involved, the fire was brought under control and further damage was limited…We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partner agencies who assisted on the scene: Lexington Police Department, Wellington-Napoleon Fire Protection District, Mayview Fire Protection District, Higginsville Fire Protection District, Higginsville EMS, Central Dispatch. Also to the community members that stepped up and helped.”

The family was displaced as a result of the fire. In response, Firestorm Charities launched a fundraising campaign to support the family. One of the nonprofit organization’s members is among the impacted family members.

Firestorm Charities remarked on social media “We would like to thank the Fire Department for their efficient fire suppression efforts and commend the firefighters for their thoroughness during overhaul and their considerate act of returning a (cut) motorcycle vest to our member. The electrical fire resulted in no injuries, and we are grateful for the swift response.”
