Norma Jean (Pinkepank) Humphreys, 97, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026. She was born on Tuesday, July 16, 1929, on a rural farm in north Sweet Springs, to Louis H. and Onita C. A. Rehmsmeyer Pinkepank.

On Aug. 9, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kansas City, Mo., she married Noah O. Humphreys.

After graduating from Marshall High School, Norma went to work as switchboard operator in Springfield. She then moved to Kansas City, Mo., and worked at a department store on the Plaza until her children were born. In 1976, the family moved to rural Slater, where Norma went to work as a bookkeeper.

She is survived by one son, Scott (Shelly) Humphreys of Clinton; four daughters: Teresa Thomason of Saline City, Cheryl (Jerry) Klasing of Slater, Danita (Chris) Lowe of rural Clinton, and Pamela (Ben Himmelberg) Leimkuehler of Gilliam; 12 grandchildren including Derrick (Sarah) Thomason of Waverly; 29 great-grandchildren, much extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, Robert Lee (Bob) Thomason; two brothers: Wilbert L. Pinkepank and Raymond L. Pinkepank; two sisters: Gloriann D. Schroeder and Aileen M. Blumhorst; and several extended family members.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Campbell Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Funeral services were held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Saline City, Mo., with Rev. Mark Junkin officiating. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery Association.
