Harriett “Joan” Rumble

January 28, 1934 – August 27, 2026

Harriett “Joan” Rumble, 92, a resident of McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff in Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026.

She was born January 28, 1934 to Harry B. and Golda M. (Clemons) Hurlburt in Malta Bend, MO.

Joan graduated from Lexington High School in 1951, after which she enlisted in the United States Air Force and worked primarily as a dental technician.

There she met the love of her life, Billy Ben Rumble, who was also in the USAR They later married and spent many happy years together, the majority in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved the warm weather there and occasionally worked at the International Hotel as an auditor.

She moved to the Kansas City area in 2024. She had a passion for traveling with friends, especially to the beach. She loved cooking gourmet dinners while entertaining close friends and enjoyed participating in recreational activities, especially swimming. She loved the symphony and going to the theater.

Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy; both parents, and a sister, Georgia L. Hurlburt.

She is survived by extended family, many dear long-term friends and her fellow residents of the McCrite community.

She will be remembered by her close friends as a kind and generous person and will be deeply missed. A Gathering of friends and sharing of memories to remember Joan, will be held 3:30 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2026 in the City Lights Club – 4th floor at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff, 1201 N.W. Tullison Road, Kansas City, MO 64116. No formal services will be held.
