Karen “Corky” Hagerty, 86, of Higginsville, died on February 21, 2026 at the Meyer Care Center.

She was born on July 17, 1939, in Kansas City, to Ernest “Red” and Malda (Fitzsimmons) Simmons.

She married John Hagerty on September 1, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Higginsville. They owned and operated Dog n Suds for many years. Corky also worked in the High School cafeteria for 40 years. She was very talented at the paper art of quilling, and made many, many beautiful, detailed creations.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; and a sister Sonnie Renno., She is survived by: Son; Mike Hagerty (Francesca) o f Kansas City, MO; Daughters; Joan Stuerke of Higginsville, Jane Perrine (Mike) of Higginsville, 7 Grandchildren , 12 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 25th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 9:30 am, visitation will begin at 10:00, and the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00, officiated by Father Justin Hoye.

Casket bearers will be Keenan Hagerty, Tyler Jolly, Clay Hughes, Brandon Struchtemeyer, Matt Hagerty, David Hagerty.

She will be buried at the City Cemetery.
