Santa Fe girls win three in a row at home

The Lady Chiefs hosted the Concordia Lady Orioles to town on Valentine’s Eve and Court Warming. With a supper, and a bunch of fundraising goodies lining the main hallway, the ball was tipped and Santa Fe jumped out on top 5-1. Later, Mia Lark got a put back to make it 9-6 at the end of the first quarter.
Tatum Fitzwater hit three free throws getting to the stripe twice, and then later Lark hit a three for 14-7. CHS answered with a three, but Santa Fe pushed the lead to 18-12 at halftime.
In the third quarter at the 4:15 mark Sami Mueller hit Tynlee Koch with an assist on the score, and S. Mueller hit a three for 24-15 at 3:12. The Lady Orioles hit a three as well, and closed the third period with another three eventually tying the game at 26 all heading into the 4th quarter.
The Orioles controlled the early portion of Q4 pulling ahead by eight at 36-28, before Lark got a steal and score, and then Brooke Dierking got two to drop at the line. With 1:16 to go S. Mueller hit a three pointer to close within one. Santa Fe took back the lead after free throws by Lark, with CHS calling a time out. Santa Fe got the ball back and iced the game with a layup by Fitzwater to go up three, and then a steal by Lark on an inbounds pass just before the buzzer. Final score 39-36. Scoring: Vandiver 2, Koch 10, S. Mueller 6, Dierking 6, Lark 11, Fitzwater 4. CHS was led by Ava Mueller and Kynleigh Abney with 9 each.
Next for the ladies was a home game on 2-16 with the Otterville Lady Eagles at home. Santa Fe would jump out to a big lead in this one cruising along after one period of play by the tally of 18-5. Lark had a pair of threes, and nine in the quarter. Koch also delivered a trey.
By halftime the score was 23-12 Santa Fe up, with Otterville outscoring the Lady Chiefs, 7-5.
The third quarter saw the Red and Black attack back in action posting 17 points, with threes by Koch and Lark, and a pair of free throws dropped in by Michael. Dierking added a bucket as well.
Santa Fe added 12 points to 7 in the 4th, cruising to a 52-29 victory. Scoring: Michael 6, Vandiver 3, Koch 13, S. Mueller 2, Dierking 4, Lark 21, Ballenger 3. Carrie Campbell would pace the Lady Eagles with 10.
On 2-17-26, the Lady Chiefs took on the Hardin- Central Lady Bulldogs on the home floor. Koch would be hot from behind the arc and rained in six threes in the first half for 18 points in the two quarters, going on to lead Santa Fe with 22 points. The advantage at the half was 32-20, with the Lady ‘Dogs trading two’s for threes from Santa Fe.
Lark added a third three of her own in the third, Dierking was getting to the stripe all game, and added 11 points. The Lady Chiefs would net another win, 56-46 over the Lady ‘Dogs. Scoring: A. Mueller 4, Koch 22, B. Mueller 1, Dierking 11, Lark 14, Fitzwater 2, Ballenger 2. Ester Kincaid led H.C. with 23. The team faces Cole Camp next on the road, and then it will be time for Class Two District 14 action.
