Randall Dean Schowenderdt

September 14, 1959-January 24, 2026 Randall Dean Schowenderdt, age 66, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty , MO. Randy was born the son of Melvin O. and Teresas Dean (Perl) Schowengerdt on September 14, 1959 in Lexington, MO. He was a 1977 graduate of Lafayette CO C-1 High School, Higginsville.

Randy attended Central Missouri State University and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Broadcast Communications. This degree led him to become a Sports Broadcaster in Lexington, MO and Chillicothe, MO. He was a broadcaster for KLEX, the “Voice of the Hornets” at KCHI and the “Dean of Sports” for The Wave radio stations for over 30 years. He also interviewed coaches and athletes on other media platforms. Randy was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, and a member of Delta Chi Fraternity, where he started his DJ career, carrying his equipment in an old van that his father purchased for him.

He loved everything about Chillicothe High School sports. He worked tirelessly on the CHS Hornets website, to insure that all sports stactics were kept. Randy took photos on the sidelines of many sporting events and posted them to that same website. He loved statistics which made him very good at announcing the Chillicothe sports. He loved his “kids”, all of the school athletes. He had a great sense of humor, as was heard when he called basketball games. He always gave the referees grief. He didn’t care about any other sports, just Chillicothe sports. Surviors include, one brother, Mike Schowengerdt and wife Celesta of Raytown; two sisters, Denise Schowengerdt and Gail Coffey, both of Higginsville; four nephews; one niece; and four great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Coffey and Keith Gadt.

A cremation was held. A Celbration fo Life will be held at a later date.
