Shepherd’s Food Pantry 2025 update
The staff at Shepherd’s Food Pantry would like to give an update on the 2025 outreach.
The pantry does a monthly report to Harvesters where they purchase most of their food. There are also several businesses that give food to the pantry.
The pantry was able, with the help of the community, to serve 1,011 families in the tri-counties of Carroll, Lafayette and Saline. The families served last year made up a total of 12,000 precious people who needed a helping hand. Last year, the pantry gave away 239,390 pounds of food.
John Mueller is the pantry director, and he coordinates all the volunteers and runs the pantry. The pantry is open on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and also the first, second and third Thursdays of the month from 1-3:30 p.m.
Needless to say, we have a small army of faithful volunteers from Victory Christian Fellowship, as well as other groups like the our local high School, Boy Scouts and individuals who help out each month. This group of volunteers, along with John, put in over 308 hours every month. Your generosity has helped the pantry give away the food through the volunteers.
The pantry’s 3,300 square foot building is paid for through the generous gifts of private donors and a couple of foundations. The pantry is truly grateful for your support and partnership to help feed the hungry of our region. Please come by sometime when the pantry is open to see the building we have been blessed with.
There is a real food shortage that has forced the pantry to buy food at $1.00 per pound. You faithful giving is truly needed to maintain the pantry.
On behalf of all the staff of Shepherd’s Food Pantry, we pray Father God’s blessings on your families and all that is yours.
