Elsie Elaine Tieman

Elsie Elaine (Klussman) Tieman, age 90 of Higginsville, formerly of Corder, died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at the Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Born Tuesday, March 19, 1935 in Corder, she was the daughter of August William & Elsie Elizabeth (Pragman) Klussman.
She was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Corder. She also attended Zion Lutheran parochial school and was confirmed at Zion.
She attended Corder High School, graduating in 1953. In 1955 she moved to Kansas City, Mo., and did secretarial work for two companies, over several years, before returning to Corder.
She married Marvin Kenneth Tieman on May 24, 1958 in Zion Lutheran Church.
She was very active in the Church holding different offices, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and was a member of the Dorcas Society. She was also a member of the Corder VFW Auxiliary and the Corder Home and Community Club.
After High School she worked part time at the Corder Bank. In 1969 she accepted a full time job there and worked there until 2000 when she retired at the age of 65. In 1980 she took on a hobby of baking and decorating cakes. She turned that hobby into a successful small business as she made numerous birthday, wedding and anniversary cakes over the next 25 years.
During the spring and summer months, she loved being outdoors gardening and maintaining a beautiful landscape around her home. She was a quintessential host, cooking and entertaining for large parties and gatherings. She was a big sports fan and loved watching her sons and grandchildren compete in basketball, baseball and softball. She was also a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Missouri Tigers.
In 2013, after Kenneth retired from farming, they moved into an apartment at John Knox Village East in Higginsville.
Surviving are her three sons: Bruce of Higginsville, Lance (Sheri) of Higginsville and Michael of Blue Springs; six grandchildren: Casandra Tieman (friend, Brandon) of Lexington, Ashley Tieman of Sedalia, Brooks Tieman (Erin) of Kansas City, Mo., Brady Tieman (Jennifer) of Higginsville, Jordyn Tieman (fiancee Justin) of Independence and Brett Tieman of Phoenix, Ariz.; six great grandchildren: Dixie, Hunter, Davis, Thea, Judd and Demi; two sisters: Dorothy Hamilton of Pasadena, Calif., and Judy Tyler of Corder; sister in-law, Arleen Miesner of Cole Camp; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; stepfather: Eric Heimsoth, Sr.; two sister in-laws: Elberta Kronsbein and Delpha Kessler; three brother-in-laws: Edward Tieman, Jr., Richard Hamilton and Don Tyler; one niece: Donna Kronsbein Apprill; one nephew: Rahn Tieman; one great grandson: Sage Michael Ewing; and 11 step brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 6, from 9:30-11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 500 N. Elizabeth, Corder. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Junkin officiating. Graveside service will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Corder, immediately following. Honorary pallbearers are the six grandchildren.
