LRHC Auxiliary awards nursing scholarships

The Lafayette Regional Health Center Auxiliary is pleased to announce that they are awarding $1,000 scholarships to the following Lex-La-Ray LPN students for the 2025-26 school year: Carissa Conger, Diana Giron and Hailey Meador.

Conger, of Hamilton, remarked “After graduation I honestly have no clue what type of nursing I will do. I am very much interested in Mental Health, I like the ideas of OR and Maternity/Mom and baby. I have also been thinking about School Nursing or Community Health to work with WIC programs for expecting mothers and children and the public. I am beyond grateful to be chosen for this scholarship. I hope to be able to make a big impact on my community and for my future patients.”

Meador, of Odessa, said “After graduation from the LPN program, I am looking forward to continuing my work in geriatric care. Throughout nursing school, I have gained not only clinical knowledge, but also a deeper understanding of compassion, patience, and dignity in care. My experiences with the geriatric population especially has reinforced why I am choosing this path. I am so appreciative for this opportunity, and honored to be able to make a difference in the lives of my patients.”

Giron, of Smithville, said “After graduating from the LPN program, I am looking forward to continuing my work in Pediatrics. Ultimately, my goal is to obtain my RN. The experiences and knowledge from my LPN program have enable me to become a better nursing professional and I look forward to working with healthcare specialist to deliver the best possible patient care.”
